FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sept. 21, 2025

Regina, SK — The Western Canada Professional Hockey Scouts Foundation (WCPHS Foundation) has received  a donation from the National Hockey League (NHL) to further its mandate of assisting individuals, charities and  communities associated with hockey that might require support and/or financial assistance.

The WCPHS Foundation, which is two years old, honours past and present-day scouts from Western Canada for the  friendships, efforts and contributions they have made to hockey during their many years of service.

“This is a major step forward for us,” said Garth Malarchuk, the WCPHS Foundation’s chairman of the board. “This will  help us as we work toward helping potential scouts, parents, players and coaches understand the realities of playing  at the professional level, and also help various charitable organizations and other children-focused organizations.”

The donation means the NHL will have a presence at the WCPHS Foundation’s next major endeavour — a banquet  “Celebrating Indigenous Hockey Legends”, presented by Bouchier, at the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina on Sept.  30.

The Hart Memorial Trophy and the Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award trophy will be at the banquet. Two  previous winners of each Award will also be in attendance. Bryan Trottier, a Hockey Hall of Famer who will be one of  the celebrated legends, won the Hart Trophy as the NHL’s most valuable player for the 1978-79 season. Brent  Dodginghorse, who was awarded the 2025 O’Ree Award, also will be at the dinner.

As well, Trottier and Dodginghorse, along with other Indigenous hockey legends, will take part in one of two hot stove  sessions. A complete list of our hot stove guests is available on our foundation’s website.

Ticket Options: Individual seats are $150.00 Table of 8: $1,100.00

Tickets are available for purchase on the foundation’s website: https://www.hockeyscoutsfoundation.com
