THANK YOU!

Thank you to everyone who supported "Celebrating Indigenous Hockey Legends", it was truly a night to remember. The stories shared with the audience—highlighting the trials and tribulations faced by the Indigenous community—were both powerful and moving. It was also incredibly encouraging to witness the contributions being made by so many of you toward a more inclusive and equitable future. We genuinely hope this event contributed, even in a small way, to the ongoing journey of truth and reconciliation.

“Tansi.“Words fail to express one’s true gratitude at moments like this. Moments when one can witness history in the making and share in the emotion of it all. Only the future can and will unfold to tell how truly significant and important the Foundation’s contribution to advance reconciliation is/was. “To lift up and honour our Hockey Legends in one place was a Herculean task in and of itself, so thank you to all of you who worked so hard to pull it off, including our sponsors. “It culminated with such an indescribable positive energy — a winning spirit — throughout the day. A day that canceled out all the many negative challenges we all experienced in our lives. Remembering those that have gone before us on their spirit journey. That was the significance of the Victory song at the beginning capped by an eagle feather and honour song, the highest honour one can receive in our culture. All of which were forbidden in Residential School. “Please accept my thanks . . . to our hockey family for setting my spirit free.”

“Congratulations on organizing such an incredible Indigenous Hockey Legends Gala. A sold-out crowd, inspiring speakers, and plenty of laughs with hockey legends made for a truly memorable evening. “One of the highlights was the Mother Teresa Middle School student and his orange shirt design. It was a great reminder of why this event is so important. “You should all be very proud of what you accomplished on this meaningful day. . . . Thanks for letting us be a part of it.”

“I wanted to congratulate the Scouts Foundation for the outstanding Indigenous Hockey Legends Banquet you put together in Regina on Sept. 30. From all who attended, from Regina and around Saskatchewan, there have been nothing but rave reviews. To have planned the event around the NHL’s Indigenous players and on Canada’s Day of Reconciliation was brilliant. “On a personal note, the opportunity to link up with former players, fans, scouts and NHL management brought back many memories. Thank you for allowing me and the Regina Pats Alumni to be a part. “I wish . . . the Foundation every success in the years ahead. Yours is a great cause.”

“I just wanted to share a quick note of gratitude and admiration for last night, what a fantastic event! The entire WCPHS Foundation, organizing committee and volunteers should be extremely proud of this historical and truly impactful event; it was very meaningful and significant! I’m thankful for having the opportunity to be there, also appreciate you inviting our players, staff and billets; it had a big impact on them as well. “Thank you for your collective efforts to bring this event together, something that will be remembered for a long time! Please share my thanks and appreciation with all involved.”

Without the support of our generous sponsors and friends, none of this would be possible.

Our Vision

The Western Canada Professional Hockey Scouts Foundation membership comprises NHL scouts from Western Canada alongside a group of committed individuals from the hockey community, all of whom share a love for the game. Our non-profit foundation is appreciative and indebted to the game of hockey and all that it has provided to our life’s experiences. Because of that we feel a strong obligation and commitment to give back to charities, communities and individuals who could benefit from our support and financial assistance.

Our Mission

Through our foundation, we are establishing the Western Canada Professional Hockey Scouts Wall of Honour. This will recognize the numerous NHL scouts, past and present, who are from and/or have served in Western Canada and have made outstanding contributions to their teams, communities and the game of hockey. Having these individuals recognized through a public display on a Wall of Honour also will shine a spotlight on the importance of scouting to the hockey industry.
