Thomas Gradin

(Feb. 18, 1956 —)

Born in Sollefteå, Sweden, he played nine seasons (1978-87) in the NHL — the first eight with the Vancouver Canucks and one with the Boston Bruins. . . . Finished his playing career with three seasons with AIK in Sweden, retiring after the 1989-90 season. . . . Represented his native country in multiple World championships. . . . Was selected to the 1985 NHL All-Star Game. . . . Rejoined the Canucks in 1992 as a European amateur scout. . . . He was the club’s lead European scout for much of his tenure. In 2007, he was promoted to associate head scout and relocated to Vancouver. . . . He retired in 2022. . . . Named to the Canucks’ Ring of Honour in 2011 and inducted into the B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame in 2017. . . . Beyond hockey, he was selected as the Honourary Consul in Vancouver for Sweden in 2013.
