Mike Barnett

Originally from Olds, Alta., he played hockey and football, and attended St. Lawrence U in Canton, N.Y. . . . Played for Houston Aeros in the first game between teams from the WHA and NHL (St. Louis Blues). . . . Eye injury ended his hockey career in 1975. . . . As a player agent, he represented Wayne Gretzky for 20 years. . . . Also represented Paul Coffey, Sergei Fedorov, Grant Fuhr, Brett Hull, Jaromir Jagr, the Sedin twins, Daniel and Henrik, Mats Sundin and Joe Thornton, among others. . . . Left the agent business in 2001 and spent six seasons as general manager of NHL’s Phoenix Coyotes, who were partially owned by Gretzky. . . . Was on Team Canada’s management team for 2006 Worlds in Riga, Latvia. Canada placed fourth. . . . The 2025-26 season was his 16th with the New York Rangers where he is senior advisor to the president and general manager.
