Craig Channell

(April 24, 1962 —)

Born in Moncton, he moved to Vancouver with family in 1967. . . . Ended professional playing career after 1989-90 — two seasons in the AHL and six in the IHL — and jumped into the scouting game. . . . Started with seven seasons with Washington Capitals — five as an amateur scout and two as director of amateur scouting. . . . Also worked with Nashville Predators (1997-2004, director of amateur scouting), St. Louis Blues (2004-09, amateur scout), Minnesota Wild (2009-18, amateur scout) and New York Rangers (2023-25, pro scout). . . . In three seasons with WHL’s Seattle Breakers, Channell, a defenceman, put up 187 points and 616 penalty minutes in 212 regular-season games. He missed only four games over the three seasons. . . . He and wife, Lori, have two daughters, Kayla and Mellissa. Mellissa won back-to-back PWHL titles with the Minnesota Frost (2024, 2025). She played with the Vancouver Goldeneyes in 2025-26.
