John Williams

From London, Ont., he and his family have lived on the West Coast since 2003 where he is NHL Central Scouting’s senior western scout. . . . He spent one season (1985-86) as an assistant coach with the OHL’s London Knights. Started his scouting career with the Soo Greyhounds in 1987 and stayed until 1998. Helped the Soo to three straight Memorial Cup tournaments, winning in 1993. . . . Joined the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets as an amateur scout in July 2000. Was promoted to assistant director of amateur scouting in September 2007. . . . Joined NHL Central Scouting in 2014 after two years away from hockey. . . . Scouting actually runs in his family. His late father, Luke, was a long-time scout with London and the Soo. Also worked for the New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers until his passing in 2011.
