Born in Peace River, Alta., he put up 502 points, including 252 goals, in 259 regular-season games over four seasons of junior, two each with the Red Deer Rustlers and Calgary Wranglers. . . . Recorded 658 points in 761 regular-season NHL games over 12-plus seasons. Joined the Detroit Red Wings in 1983 after being with HC Davos in Switzerland. Struck for eight goals and two assists in his second-last game there. . . . Retired after playing 1993-95 with NHL-Calgary and joined the Flames’ scouting staff. . . . Took over as general manager of WHL’s Calgary Hitmen in 1998. Was with Hitmen through 2015-16, serving at various times, as GM, GM/head coach, executive vice-president of hockey operations and president of hockey operations. . . . Left the Flames organization to join the Vegas Golden Knights as pro scout in 2016, one season before they began play in the NHL
