Marcel Comeau

Born in Edmonton, he played one season (1971-72) with the Oil Kings. . . . Began scouting with NHL’s Atlanta Thrashers as part-timer (1998-99). Moved to full-time in 2000 and spent 12 seasons there, last five as head scout. . . . Moved to Winnipeg with Atlanta franchise and was Jets’ director of amateur scouting (2011-15) before transitioning to amateur scout (2015-19). Retired after 2018-19. . . . Played 11 seasons with Saginaw Gears, winning IHL titles in 1977 and ’81. Was IHL scoring champ and MVP for 1980-81. Was playing GM and head coach for the last two seasons (1981-83). . . . Coached in WHL (Calgary Wranglers, 1983-84; Saskatoon Blades, 1984-89; Tacoma/Kelowna Rockets, 1991-95). WHL coach of the year, 1987-88; WHL/CHL coach of the year, 1992-93. . . . Also coached in AHL (New Haven Nighthawks) and ECHL (Winston-Salem Thunderbirds). . . . Head coach of Canadian team that won 1996 World Junior championship.
